Greek Architecture

Greek Architecture is a bit different in any architectural history.
Architecture in greece was extinct from the end of the mycenean period. Many of their architectural structure in that time is made up of  mudbricks, clay and clay only few of those structure remains because that time colonization is present. The pillar and capital are familiar in Greece from prehistoric times. They feature together, for example, in the sculpture above the Lion Gate at Mycenae. Some of their structure is made up of wood but in that time they have consider patterns. The Orders of Architecture is in Greece have exist. The Doric, Ionic and Corinthian.Ionic is more influence by the eastern traditions. Ionic is just a plain design, while Doric is more elegant and the Corinthian is the combination of the two.
Greek religion is polytheism. Meaning to say they believe and praise many God.
Geologically they used marble. Their climate is extreme cold  and a relaxing heat. The absence of forest is very conducive. Their Architectural period is in hellenic period. The Hellenic Period includes all principal monuments and temples that  is erected between 700 B.C and 146 B.C. The masterpiece of Greek Architecture belong to the short  space of almost about 150 years.
Some of their Architectural features are Acropolis, Agora, Temple of Zeus Parthenon, Bouleterion, Palestra,-a gymnasium, The Temple of Athena. They have many beautiful structures and buildings. I can see the great and imaginative idea of the one who built the structure.
It is also a wonderful place to go and a nice place to go especially for the Architecture students. This place is full of historical features. But nowadays some of the structures I had mention a while ago is not present and some have gone, few of this structures  are still there but not completely alike the original formation of this .The reason behind this is because of the ancient war in this place the structures have been ruined and destroy. But still the fact is Greek Architecture really influenced and contributed alot in the History of our Architecture.

Egyptian Architecture

I have search many structure and heard different story of different country in terms of their Architectural structure. But among all those story of their history only few of them inspired me.
Egyptian Architecture have shown a great contribution in terms of architecture in history. They are really good and they showed different way on their own in creating a structure and establishments. Their design is quiet simple but unique. Their design is more monumental. In terms of the decoration of structure they use ornaments. Heiroglyphs is also  known in their time. Egyptian English is based on 26 characters -letters.
Geologically they used limestone for their structure. They have dry climate but they experienced cool feeling at night because of the desserts. The architectural characteristics of Egypt are shows simplicity ,solidity, and spiral. They also shows simplicity of their design. Egyptian believes that all of this symbolizes eternity.
Their religion is a dominant element of their structure. One hing I admire about Egyptians tradition is once they pharaoh is dead the body of the pharaoh is place inside the pyramid. This is not an ordinary pyramid because it is made-up of gold. They shows a great and a good example in treating their leader., that even though it is already dead they give a pledge of honor and a recognition for their pharaoh until the end of his life.
Egyptian Architecture are all good and definitely to be proud off. Some of this are the pyramids , sphinx and many more. Egyptian Architecture really influence other country in asia.
I really hope that someday I can go there and once I get that Chance I will roam the place and sketch all their structures as many as I can.I really admire their piece of art,.

West Asiatic Architecture

When I heard the word architecture, at first I was so nervous and afraid of this subject.Because   consider this one of the most terrific but great course. But did we know who created this architecture , how it emerge and how it relates with our daily life.
In the early civilizations many people didn't know on how to create a concrete and safe shelter. They are always depending on what they see.and what things they can use. Example many of our ancestors used the trees and caves for shelter. And due to the learning that they have and achieve they started to use their creativity in order for them to survive in danger.
During the West Asiatic architecture  where the three main periods  were existed; the Babylonian,Assyrian and Persian period, the layouts and construction of this were influenced by the status of the people.
                                INFLUENCES

-Geographical-The civilization of west asiatic architecture flourished in the plains of the two rivers which are the TIGRIS and EUPRATES.
              - Geological-
Babylonia-In this place rocks or stone is nowhere to be found and tno trees will grow. But this was suitable for the making of bricks, which became the usual building material.
Assyria- There are plenty of stones in the mountains but  but the Assyrians follow the Babylonian's style of using bricks for  building materials.
Persian-They used different materials for building their structures. They used hard colored limestone. They also known in the world for their beauty of texture and color.
               -Climatic-
They have a dry, hot climate.
               -Religious-
Babylonians and Assyrians- They worship heavenly bodies, division of the universe and local deities.
They arrogated themselves the power of reading the stars and interpreting the will of god. They also have this system of triads:Assyrian god's grouped in triads. ANU- God of Heaven,BAAL-God of Earth,EA-God of water- THE TRIAD OF THE UNIVERSE>. The other triad SHAMASH,SIN and ISHTAR personified the bsun, the moon, and the life-giving power. In persia they are incorporated in the religion of the ZOROASTER. Fire was held by Zoroaster to be the manifestation of good and fire worship needed no temples.
                 -Historical-
BABYLONIAN PERIOD(c.B.C.4000-1275)
ASSYRIAN PERIOD(B.C.1275-538)
PERSIAN PERIOD(B.C 538-333)

West Asiatic Architecture did many contributions to architecture.Their contributions have  marked the history. The different structures that they had made is truly something to be proud of. One of my favorite structure in that time was the hanging garden of babylon. It is so nice and definitely attractive. Well, I also admire the way they love and give honor to their kings. Like for examples the Tomb of the Darius and the Tomb of Cyrus. And although the structures are  old and some were damaged due to war it will still be a beautiful contributions of the western asia.

Inspiring!!!

In this world, there are people who are born with unique talents and skills. Being a college architect student I want to make a record too in the future.I have read lots of books and article about different famous and well-known architects. All of them are really great in the field of their career. But among all them all, there are three of them that truly made an impact to me. They have stand-out among them all.I want to emulate this three particular architects.
First on my list is non-other than Francisco Manosa. Francisco Manosa is a filipino architect. He gave a big contribution for everybody especially us Filipinos. He prove that his priority is still the Philippines. I still remembered his touching line of saying this "I just want to design for the Filipino." I want to innovate and and invent designs that can identify with Filipino." This was a very inspiring line that we can hear by a true Filipino. One of his famous works is The Nipa Hut Mansion. Through his work, it really shows his love for our country. He also helps three hundred residences, forty churches of different faith as well as two hundred resorts and hotels.
The second architect that I also admire is Leandro Locsin. (1928-1994) He is also a Filipino architect like Francisco. He is also an artist and interior designer. Leandro Locsin is really different from the first architect that I had mentioned earlier. He is different because he is known for his use of concrete, floating volume of design. He uses simplistic designs for all of his project. One of his famous work that I really love is the round chapel with the altar in the middle. He designed it using his own concrete design.
The next and the last architect that I like is different from the two. He is a foreign architect. He is Alvar Aalto. The manifestation of his his work is in specific architectonic concerns element, issues of thought and formal expression. Alvar Aalto's work is quiet good too. he uses a unique sensitivity to the dynamic of the sinous element in architecture. The best of his work that I like is The Bell Tower.
Hopefully, someday I can also be achieve what they had achieve.

A thought!

The Prehistoric architecture serve us a good start in the development of the human ways.It is a complex development, that started in a simple origin in the primitive efforts of the ancient people in the early ages.
In that time, there are no advance materials hat they can use to build houses and structures. So the people in the past thought of something they can use to make their houses. It is because they want to protect themselves from the weather/ wild beast or animals and human enemies.
In that particular time, mud bricks, wattle&daub and tents were revolutionized. The combination of mud, sand and water is eventually became mud bricks. There  are two types of it. Adobe and cob. Adobe is use for houses while cob is use for fire proof. On the other hand, tents are use by shepherds. Hay and hut also became popular during that time.
During Paleolithic time many have been developed. Like for example HUT-Terra Amata, Venus-figures.In the continuous changes that have been occur the Neolithic is age have began. In this time many things was discovered. One of this is Jargon. Under jargon are Monolith, Dolmen or cromlech and  the circle stones. Monoliths is one up-right stone, dolmen is two up-right stones and cromlech is three up-right stones. Another is the tumuli. One of the examples of this is Burial mounds and Nur hugs. Lake dwellings also appeared in this age.
With the creative thinking of our ancestor through dolmens pyramid was created. They also used Tumuli for tombs, mud bricks for plaster and lake houses for bridges.
The prehistoric architecture has  truly improve in a great degree. Because of this, our creativity is really proven.  It only started through using simple things that we don't expect to be so efficient made a major impact of the world, because of the stepping stone of architecture.
This is just a proof that that all things in this world has it's own worth. No matter it seems to be, still we need to value it.

My Cute Thought!!

" I believe in the saying of Thomas Alva Edison;'Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration'."
My philosophy in life is this; "A man with values and the center of his life is God is better than a man who thinks himself as a God and uses his knowledge in wrong deeds".I made this kind of philosophy because I myself witness the attitude of some people older than me that use their talents and abilities to take advantage of others ignorance just for money and fame.
Someday, I want to create a structure that can  protect  us Filipinos when our country Philippines encounters catastrophe. And how I really wish I can create this  future project in no time.Well I know  that before I can build this dream project of mine ,I may experience many obstacles, failures and sure enough encounter criticisms. Many people will also think I'm a bit crazy. But I will not be affected nor distracted by them because I know, nothing is impossible nowadays. And besides things quickly change and with the help of these upgraded technologies  everything can be achieve.
As a future architect hopefully, I want to see myself helping many people to perfectly design the structure that they want to make. And to be able to make my own identity that my client can truly trust and rely on, I will do my ordinary duties extra-ordinarily well.
I can possibly say the things that makes me different from the others is me being an architect that can use "my mind and my heart" at the same time. I want to make or to create a building that is built because I have my inspiration,so that others can also be inspired.
My future depends on how I will strive and perceive in my studies. And I believe in every journey of life I may encounter hindrances. Failure may even come in my way,but this failure will teach me to become stronger in this circle of life. And I believe that in every failure there is always a second  chance. In that time will grab that chance to prove myself once again and show everyone my worth.
And so, in my 16th years of existence in this world, I came up with this philosophy that I believe in.
